Accelerating Weight Loss through Cardio Exercise

Some kind of cardio exercise is really a must if you want to lose weight through exercise. Cardio exercise usually involves jumping, running, or even dancing. Putting it in other terms, any kind of exercise that will gets you to a healthy level of heart pumping.

Several people attend aerobics classes in order to get access to some cardio fitness. Aerobics usually involves exercising to the sound of music in a coordinated way, which is somewhat similar to dancing. Aerobics became very popular in the 1980s and was developed in order to make cardio exercise more fun and accessible.

Additionally to aerobics, you can also exercise in other ways such as bike-riding, running, or stair-climbing. Most health clubs today provide their members with a wide range of cardio exercise equipment such as mechanical stair climbers, bicycles, rowing machines, and treadmills.

Cardio exercise helps to burn calories and also provides the metabolism with a bit of a boost. This is the reason why people are usually advised not to exercise before going to bed. Although some forms of exercise, such as yoga and toning exercises are acceptable to do before going to sleep and might even help you to get a good night's sleep, cardio exercise is usually best performed in the morning, before you go to work or start your day.

Virtually any exercise that has the effect of increasing your heart rate will most likely cause you to perspire when you really start to work out. When you do any cardio exercise, you should try to always ensure that you keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

Cardio exercise, when combined with a low calorie diet, can be one of the most effective ways of losing weight. Although low impact exercises can make it possible to tone up your muscles and eliminate fat, cardio exercise will be able to burn calories. Nevertheless, you really should try to incorporate both types of exercises - both cardio exercise as well as toning exercises, into your routine. Some personal trainers share the opinion that doing cardio exercise every other day and low impact training or toning on the other days can be a very good way of losing calories as well as toning your muscles.

You should usually start slowly when beginning a cardio exercise routine and be sure to check with your physician before you begin, in order to make sure that it is safe enough for your heart. If you ever feel short of breath or dizzy when you perform any cardio exercise, you should stop immediately. This can sometimes occur if you start off too fast without prior warming up. If you continue with the exercise program, you will tend to gradually build yourself up to the point where you can gradually do more each time. You should never continue to exercise through pain or discomfort, especially if you become dizzy.

You don't need to have a costly gymnasium membership in order to incorporate cardio exercise into your life, although certain gyms do offer a variety of equipment that can make this exercise far easier. However, if you do not have enough money for a gym membership, you can consider some of the following alternatives:

* Jogging - Start off slowly and stop if you get a cramp. Breathe in through your mouth and out through your nose and eat a banana each day to gain potassium which can sometimes cause you stitches or cramps which one experiences in the side when running.

* Jumping jacks - Remember these? These were what we all used to learn in high school and these are still a very good means to get your heart pumping.

* Running in place (also known as running on the spot) - This is also an effective and easy means to get your heart pumping to a good level and is also a good way to get some cardio exercise done at home.

When combined with a healthy diet, cardio exercise is one way to ensure that you take off those extra pounds that might accumulate during the winter months.
