Adding Fun to your Exercise Routine

One of the main keys to making exercise work for you is to try to get into a solid routine. Most people will start off with some very good intentions but then might fall in the wayside. One of the reasons that people become disinterested in exercise is that it no longer becomes any fun.

Making exercise more fun can be the key towards keeping your exercise routine going strong for a longer amount of time. There are several ways that you can make exercise far more fun for yourself. Below are some tips that you can use:

* Exercise with a friend - One of the positive things about exercising at the health club is that many other people are there exercising with you. You can either make friends at the health club or bring a friend along, as an exercise partner. You and your exercise buddy can keep each other motivated and you will also be able to pass the time more easily and pleasantly than if you just decide to work out on your own.

* Listen to music - You can either use an MP3 player or a portable CD player when you do your work out exercises so that you can enjoy the music that you like. You will actually start to enjoy working out far more if you find yourself listening to something pleasing. Indeed, there is nothing better than good music to put you in a good, positive and energetic mood.

* You can also try some different classes at the health club. - This will not only broaden your horizons, but will also eliminate the boredom of a regular, monotonous routine. Although some people might choose to reject change, others will get bored with doing the same thing repeatedly. If you find that your exercise routine has become boring, don't give it up - just try to add a little zip to it by trying something a bit different and new.

* Watch a movie - If you exercise at home, try to put on your favorite DVD or video and watch it when exercising. This will help pass the time and give you something to enjoy during your routine. If you have a series on DVD, you might choose to put this on whenever you exercise that will give you a pleasant association with your exercising.

* Use your imagination - If you are swimming, you can imagine that you are in an Olympic competition. If you are running, you can imagine yourself chasing someone or conversely, someone chasing you. You should try to set some little goals for yourself if you find yourself bike riding and try to imagine that you are trekking through the mountains. By using a little bit of imagination, you will be more able to add some fun to your workout routine.

Don't ever allow yourself to get bored with your exercise routine. Always make sure that you continue with the routine and simply add a bit of change in the routine at times to tang it up. You can also incorporate some fun into your exercise routine whether you might be exercising at home or in the gym.

It is also most important that you do enjoy your exercise routine and that you consider at as something that you look forward to doing each day. If you are finding yourself dreading the idea of exercise, try to ask yourself why. Perhaps you can change your time routine instead of the actual exercises themselves. Or, maybe, it is time for you to try something different.

When you begin to see the difference in your body's shape as well as the improvement in your mental condition, this will give you an added incentive towards exercising. By associating pleasant thoughts or activities to your exercising, such as your favorite music, moves or film, you will progressively find that you are actually looking forward to your exercise routine and will find yourself quite lost without it.
